Day 26: picture of something that means alot to me

Our little critters mean the world to me. They are obnoxious and a bit spoiled, but we wouldn't have them any other way. I would have posted a photo of all of them together, but I don't have a good one. Do you know how hard it is to get 4 dogs to behave at the same time to get a decent photo of them? I will tell you: I haven't found it to be possible, yet. Ebony is a little diva and oh so sweet. MoJo is my snuggle buddy, KanDee is the baby even though MoJo is the youngest, and Samson is the one that keeps an eye on Sid. I snuck him into the hospital in my purse to visit Sid after the stroke. Sid didn't recognize me or the kids, but as soon as I put Sammy on his chest the lights came on just a little bit. Needless to say, Sammy gets away with ANYTHING..

Happy Birthday KanDee

Our sweet baby is one year old today.... I told you about our old dog Punkin. How when I first met her she wrapped her little legs around my arm and wouldn't let go? Well, that is exactly how this little ball of fluff was when I first met her.(she hasn't changed a whole bunch)... Last Father's day we lost our dear Punkin. We were blessed that she died at home......I held her head in my lap and prayed over her and stroked her head and kissed her goodbye...(yes, I am crying as I write this)...10 days later My Dad died. He and I were very close. I have always been and will always be Daddy's little girl. When my parents divorced it was like I was the only one that stuck by Dad. Any way with his death so soon after Punkin's I was pretty broken inside. My husband decided I needed a trip to see our son and his wife and the 4 granddaughters to cheer me up some. Well, that's what we did. While over there, we went into this little pet store, and There she was. Little Miss KanDee. I just picked her up, and we had to pry her little legs from around my arm. Needless to say, I saw that as a sign that she was meant to be a part of our family. It is amazing what a puppy can do for a broken heart. I was so concerned with making sure she was OK and trying to teach her the basics...potty outside...eat your own food..play nice with the others..I didn't have as much time to feel sorry for myself. Yes, I still grieved the losses of my Daddy and our precious Punkin, but that grief was eased with the love of this new little critter. There is no doubt she was meant to come home with us, and she is a constant source of happiness for us. So today on her 1st birthday we celebrate her.

missing Punkin

Ok ...I started a blog to share my random ramblings...all I can come up with today is how much I love my furry little critters. They are just so stinkin cute. When I get home from work you would have thought I had been on a 3 month safari in a foreign land. Jumping all over me and wiggling and waggling. They are the best. Makes me think of our dear Punkin. We had her for 14 years and what a great gift she was. I still miss her so much. We got her when she was 3 weeks old...her mama had been run over and the puppies were needing some extra care..I picked up this little ball of fluff and she wrapped her legs around my arm and wouldn't let go..well, I brought her home, and she became a wonderful constant in our life. She grew to be a large (80lb) part of us.I never worried about locking a door with her around..Chow/Lab mix.. fiercely loyal and oh so loving to her family. If she was with me I didn't get scared at night when My husband wasn't home. I knew she would protect me. And those loving eyes. As she got older those eyes failed her, but we kept the house the same and she was fine. up until she was 12 my husband took her for a ride in the care EVERY night, no matter what. some times just a short one, sometimes to get ice cream at dairy queen, sometimes to go see gramma. We were blessed with this precious gift from God. I miss my Punkin.
